Every EV charger installed in Great Britain must now be a "smart" charger under the Electric Vehicles (Smart Charge Points) Regulations, meaning it can schedule charging and apply a randomised start delay — that's not optional, it's the law. We also check your supply can take the extra load, fit appropriate protection, and notify the installation as required under Building Regulations.
Planning permission generally isn't needed for most home, workplace and commercial charger installs. Grant support has narrowed since 2022 — standard homeowners with a driveway are no longer eligible, but renters, flat owners, landlords and households relying on on-street parking may still qualify for up to £500 per socket. We'll tell you straight whether you're likely to qualify rather than assume.
